Journey Antartica Parajet Expeditions

Antarctica is the fifth-largest continent (14.4 million km2 / 5.4 million square miles) and is so hostile and remote that it has no indigenous or permanent inhabitants. About 98% of Antarctica is covered by a continental ice sheet of at least around 1.6 kilometers (1 mile) in thickness.

In December 2008, Bear Grylls led a team of four climbers to one of the least explored regions of Antarctica in an audacious bid to climb one of the most remote unclimbed peaks on earth and to explore part of the great continental ice-shelf, sponsored by Ethanol Ventures.

The expedition aimed to promote alternative energy and bioethanol as a source of power in the future and raise funds for Global Angels, an international children鈥檚 charity championing the needs of children around the world.

During the mission the team scaled one of the great unclimbed peaks in Antarctica, explored the coast by inflatable boat and jetski, part powered by bioethanol, an almost entirely carbon neutral fuel alternative, and then travelled across some of the vast ice desert by wind-powered kite-ski and electric-powered paramotor.
