Paramotor Speed Record Parajet Special Projects

Parajet Team Pilot and British team member Dean Eldridge has filed a claim for the FAI 鈥楽peed Over Straight Course 15/25 km鈥 record.

On the 05 February 201, flying an unmodified Parajet Cyclone 294cc under a standard Paramania Fusion 20, Parajet Team Pilot and British team member Dean Eldridge clocked up an impressive average speed of 73.84 km/h over the 15/25 km straight course.

High speed runs like this require high wing loading which is why Deano鈥檚 takeoff weight was 157.3 kg 鈥 that included Dean, the motor, wing, fuel and 15 kg of bullets!

The current record was set in September 2009 by Italian Raffaele Benetti in Pisa, Italy aboard a U-Turn Morpheus, an acro paraglider, powered by a Fly Products motor.

鈥淚t was a beautiful morning with very smooth air aloft,鈥 states Deano. 鈥淚 took off right over the top of all the folks sleeping off their hangovers in their giant RVs. Running with the same weight as I weigh on my back through soft sand was a little challenging! The equipment performed faultlessly with maximum speed achieved at half throttle. Unfortunately I had the flu so I couldn鈥檛 carry as much weight as I would have liked. More next time鈥︹

Jeff Goin, chairman of the American Paramotoring Association was the FAI official observer.
