This customer advisory notice is issued to all pilots to remind them of the importance of carrying out comprehensive pre and post flight checks of their Zenith and to inform pilots of recommended additional safety measures involving the harness attachment utilising the curved harness bar and webbing rivets.

This advisory is in response to feedback from one of our team pilots that experienced a unique single-point of failure due to a manufacturing irregularity in the top harness rivet that resulted in a loosening of the harness from the chassis during flight. It is important to recognise that team pilots fly their machines in such a way that they push the Zenith鈥檚 capabilities and tolerances to the limit, and after further analysis we firmly believe the probability of this malfunction occurring during typical use is extremely low and would not cause any immediate impingement to flight. However, we advise that should such a malfunction occur, that pilots cease powered flight and land as soon as possible.

Implemented Safety Measures

As a safety measure, Parajet is requesting that pilots carry out adequate pre and post flight inspections to make sure that the harness rivets and webbing are devoid of any damage or excessive wear and that the curved harness bar is correctly located underneath the chassis harness dowels. As a further safety enhancement, Parajet will be sending out Velcro webbing straps to all Zenith owners to aid as a secondary and additional harness attachment device. 

To facilitate ongoing quality and safety for Zenith pilots, we will be fitting a rivet penny-washer to increase the surface area of the rivet providing greater strength and rigidity to the harness attachment and alleviate any chance of the rivet pulling through the webbing. We will also be extending the harness locating dowels by 2mm to aid harness bar support. As part of our servicing provision we will be adding these precautionary measures as a checkpoint and upgrade for our customers.
